Brief Description

This Choc Peppermint slice is the perfect way to pick your energy levels up in the afternoon or end a meal. It is jam packed with nutrients like magnesium (nuts, seeds, cocoa powder) and potassium which are both so important for optimum cellular health as they help create sparks for your muscles to function properly and effectively, infact magnesium has over 300 roles in the body! From heart health to being a catalyst for many metabolic reactions.

Peppermint oil is very soothing for the digestive system and can help get rid of nausea.
Cinnamon is a fantastic anti sugar craver and can help glucose uptake into the cells reducing risk of diabetes and insulin resistance.
Cocoa powder is also high in antioxidants and cocoa contains the substance phenethylamine, which is a neurotransmitter found in the brain that acts as a mood elevator and natural antidepressant - cocoa may also have the ability to boost endorphins, which act as natural “happy” opiates and are responsible for the highs that are often felt after exercising and laughing.

For the base: In a food processor, blend the dates with mixed nuts and seeds for 30 seconds, then add cinnamon, vanilla essence, 2Tb cocoa powder and ONE drop of pure peppermint oil (or use couple of tablespoons of the Avalanche Sugar Free Peppermint drinking chocolate) and blend again until sticking together. Alternatively you can also blend up the Well Naturally Sugar Free peppermint chocolate bars (found in most supermarkets in health section).
Line a 20 x 30 slice or baking tray with plastic wrap or baking paper (Tip: to help plastic wrap stick to the bottom, spread a little oil on the tray before lining it.) Spread the mixture evenly around the tray and press down with a spoon or spatula to form a slice. Place in freezer.

For the chocolate topping:
Mix 2Tb cocoa or cacao powder to the coconut oil along with 2-3Tb Natvia or rice syrup (or again the Avalanche Sugar Free drinking chocolate) along with ONE drop of essential peppermint oil). Alternatively you can melt down the Well Naturally Sugar Free peppermint chocolate bars.

Take the slice out of freezer, spread the chocolate topping around evenly and then decorate with coconut, slithered almonds and even frozen berries. Place back in freezer until topping hardens (around 10mins) before serving. Keep in freezer or fridge after that.
