Custard

Brief Description

This is the fast version of making custard using custard powder. Check out the real version of custard in the recipe section. Custard can be another great low calorie option after dinner when you just want something a little more to 'fill the gap'. You can always have this for an afternoon tea snack too. 

You can use standard milk, soymilk, coconut milk, almond milk, it does seem to work with most types of milks. 
You can also get really creative with the types of custard you can create. For example you can mash up a banana and have a banana custard, you can serve the custard with tinned peaches and cinnamon, you can add cocoa powder and make it chocolate custard. The options are endless. You can keep it the fridge and have it as a snack with fruit the next day.

Directions

  • In a ceramic cereal bow, add the custard powder and milk and stir well so no lumps.
  • Place in the microwave for 30seconds. Take out and stir out lumps then put back in for 20 seconds. Take out and stir again. It should thicken up by now. IF not, put back in microwave for a few seconds longer. If too thick, add more liquid. Add tsp Natvia, cocoa powder and for extra flavour add a tsp cinnamon and tsp vanilla essence.
  • Serve by itself or with some fruit.
